Friends of the Cresheim Trail’s March workday has us in full spring prep mode. We’ll continue the ecological restoration we’ve been building in the area around the boardwalk with live staking of native plants (think elderberry, pussy willow, red osier dogwood). And we’ll surely check on our fall plantings that included pawpaw, hornbeam, beech, and other trees.
We’ll also do some rock work on the trail (experienced trail building preferred for this task) and other good fun general maintenance. If you haven’t seen the new cut along the old rail corridor yet, here’s a great opportunity to do that and have a hand in its care.
We’ll meet at the usual spot, along Cresheim Valley Drive opposite Navajo Street. If you’re driving, there’s parking along the northbound side of CVD. Hiking and biking encouraged, of course – it’s a 3 minute walk from Germantown Avenue trailhead. If you can’t make this one, we have them on the third Saturday of each month (though we are entertaining Sunday options too).
