Cresheim Trail Volunteer Workday Sun 8/17

We’re tightening the screws on this month’s Cresheim Trail volunteer workday. A second round of trail posts awaits installation in 13 locations, eight of which we’ll put in the ground on SUNDAY, AUGUST 17TH at 9AM.

We’ll meet at Mermaid Park in Chestnut Hill, the park space at 7645 Germantown Avenue you may remember from last week’s feature in the Chestnut Hill Local — read it HERE. We’ve also got some of the usual stuff – vegetation trimming, trash pickup, et cetera – a little something for everyone.

We’ll be joined by David Bower and the Q-Team from Friends of the Wissahickon — who partnered with us on the production of these and our earlier trail posts, maintaining consistent wayfinding signage across the Wissahickon’s 2000+ acres.

The remaining five posts will be installed later this fall, after SEPTA has completed its work on the Chestnut Hill East Line’s bridge. Work continues on that project, and it goes without saying that it has interrupted trail use (and its upkeep) between Germantown and Stenton Avenues. FOCT will coordinate the reopening of the trail accordingly and post details when we know them.
