On Saturday, May 17th, Friends of the Cresheim Trail and our friends in Mt Airy and Chestnut Hill will close Cresheim Valley Drive to traffic between Germantown and Stenton Avenues and take to the streets with trash bags and trash pickers and clean the drive as part of Love Your Park spring festivities. We’ll meet at 9am at Chestnut Hill Mermaid Park (7645 Germantown Ave), the pocket park between Mermaid Inn and Chestnut Hill Flower & Garden.
PLEASE NOTE: The Chestnut Hill Farmers Market will be happening, and we want to keep the area in front of it clear. Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting has graciously offered their parking lot at 20 E Mermaid Lane for the occasion, and you can shortcut to the meeting spot via the Friends Loop trail.
As always, we are very grateful to Philadelphia Streets Department for the assist to close the road, to the Department of Sanitation for removing the trash, to Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy for the Love Your Park support, and of course to our partners Mt Airy Trash Team and Chestnut Hill Community Association, for coming out and pitching in. Parks & Rec will also have heavy equipment on hand to chip and remove the wood we’ve cleared from the quarry over the past couple months.
It’s happening Saturday, May 17th, 9am–12pm. So we have an understanding of head count, please sign up HERE. See you then!
Our next volunteer workday after this will be Sunday, June 8th.
