7/16 UPDATE: The National Weather Forecast’s latest model shows a 100% chance of rain, with possible thunderstorms, on Saturday morning. This, in addition to the degraded air quality from the Canadian wildfires, have led us to move our July volunteer workday back a day. Please join us this Sunday, July 19th at 9AM for a morning of trail work, boardwalk work, and other tasks in the wake of the flooding from two weekends ago.
Because of the recent storm damage, we are moving the meetup spot and work location closer to Germantown Avenue. We’ll now meet on northbound Cresheim Valley Drive opposite Navajo Street to focus our work on the boardwalk and nearby trail.
Join FOCT, Lower Merion Trail Blazers, Independence Youth Cycling and friends as we give the trail some much needed TLC. We’ll also spend some time fixing up the boardwalk, which was dislodged during those same storms. Bring your bike and we’ll take a lap when we’re done working.
We’ll meet at the classic Cresheim Trail meetup spot, on northbound Cresheim Valley Drive opposite Navajo Street. [Map.] There’s plenty of room to park safely on the shoulder — look for the tree cages and you’re in the right spot. We’ll have tools and gloves but you’re welcome to bring yours if you like.
Also, we know there’s additional work to do as a result of the recent storms, including the postponed knotweed cutting in the Quarry Rock Garden. Likewise, the rail trail rough draft between Germantown and Stenton will be mowed within the next week or two. Always lots to do in the summertime.
Our next scheduled workday after this one is Sunday August 16th, but we may squeeze another one in before then. Stay tuned.
