This section is currently a dead-end, but it contains a nod to both the past and the future.

Beginning at a junction with the single-track Upper Loop trail, the future Cresheim Rail Trail begins its route as a Circuit Trail and its journey to Fort Washington State Park. The current ⅛-mile segment follows the former Pennsylvania Railroad Fort Washington Branch to Germantown Avenue, where the trail ends — for now. It will continue across the trestle when it is rehabilitated and a deck is installed for the trail. Several railroad ties are still visible in the trail tread.

FOCT opened this “rough draft” of the trail with help from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation in January 2023.
