Built by mountain bikers with mountain biking in mind, this 0.3-mile segment provides an alternate route with technical rock segments, a “back door” to the Grotto bench, and direct access to the Cresheim Rail Trail rough draft’s southern segment.

The switchback at the southernmost part of this section required lots of heavy lifting, moving and setting rocks with griphoists, winches, and cables. The switchback was begun in 2016 and completed in April 2017.

This section’s rolling grade transitions from a dense woodland canopy to exposed sunny areas under the power lines. Native species in this stretch include lots of sassafras, blueberry, and a large heritage red oak tree.
